MONDAY 1 JULY

Where does a clown fit in the revolution?

  • Monday 1 July
WORKSHOP: Embaressment as a Revolutionary Tool, 11:00, Flokkr Container #1

Come and find out where a clown fits in the revolution and how failure and embarrassment are the keys to change.

In a workshop at Flokkr, experience this self-coined ‘embarrassment artist’ Andie Flores, as she shares how she uses embarrassment and failure as a means for change and revolution.

The celebrated performance artist uses embarrassment in her experimental live performances where identity and comedic culture moments are paired with over-exaggerated, often grotesque shapes and sounds.

Andie Flores is an artist-in-residence as part of the international residency exchange initiative CopenhAustin, which focuses on queer artists working with live performances. The initiative was created by the art organizations Warehouse9 (Copenhagen, DK), Museum of Human Achievement (Austin, TX), and Unlisted Projects (Austin, TX), while Roskilde Festival is a collaboration partner.

Andie Flores is a performance artist from Austin, Texas, who is fascinated by challenging the boundaries of art. In 2020 she was named one of the ‘40 Emerging, Texas-based Artists to Know’ by the American media brand Remezcla, and she also made the ‘Best of 2021’ list in the Texan art magazine Glasstire.
