Cello and dance in an intense physical encounter

  • Thursday 4 July
    12:00, Platform

An intense and fragile space is created when the versatile and experimental musician CTM (Cæcilie Trier) and dancer/performer Skjold Rambow meet to perform their work Bow. In the joint performance, the two artists are concerned with the transition between fiction and reality, between expectation and a strong presence.

The title contains an ambiguity that alludes to both the bow that CTM uses to play her cello, but also the gesture that a performer makes to the audience after a job well done. The work thus explores not only the relationship between music and movement, but also the relationship between performer and audience.

The result evokes a strong physical presence and kinetic energy between CTM's expressive cello playing and Rambow's dance, which draws on both a background in breakdancing and slowly unfolding movements in space.

Bow is a fascinating encounter between body and music, and between two open-minded artists. The piece has already garnered praise at festivals such as Berlin Atonal and Ultima in Oslo. Now it's coming to Roskilde Festival, where you can experience the gripping performance on the Platform stage.
