Empowering change – is the world getting it right for women?

  • Monday 1 July
    17:45, Flokkr

Feminist activist Emma Holten will look at the progress and challenges of the current global situation for women's rights in a conversation at Flokkr with Human Rights Watch researcher Hillary Margolis.

The conversation between two of today's most significant voices in the debate will focus on progress, challenges, and trends in topics such as consent, reproductive rights, sexual violence, feminist economics, and labor rights. The conversation will be in English.

The event aims to raise awareness of the world around us and our understanding of women's rights from an international perspective. Hopefully, we will be inspired to imagine what a more fair future might look like and how we can get there.

Emma Holten is a feminist activist and gender policy consultant. In 2014, she created the project CONSENT about her own experience with digital sexual violence. Since then, she has worked on an array of subjects. Among them are power in the workplace and feminism in art and literature.

Hillary Margolis is a senior women's rights researcher based in London. Her work focuses on violence against women and girls, including sexual violence in conflicts, interpersonal and domestic violence, and protection risks for female migrants, refugees, and asylum-seekers.

Human Rights Watch is an international independent human rights organization with roughly 550 people of 70+ nationalities. They investigate and report on abuses happening in all corners of the world.
