Lara Schnitger's work is playfully over-the-top and vibrant yet serious, pointedly addressing the continued struggle for women’s equality and safety in a culture of patriarchy.

During First Days, at Flokkr and at campsite, you can experience Lara Schnitger's roaming performance 'Suffragette City'. A traveling hybrid procession blurring the lines between art and protest, sculpture and body. Everyone is invited to join the artist's protest for women's rights, equality, and safety by carrying their own symbolic items such as “slut sticks” or quilted signs, and contributing their voice to the cause.

In two hands-on workshops at Flokkr, participants can make their own “slut sticks” to carry during the procession and share thoughts on how to combine feminist issues, activism, and art.

When the festival site opens you will be greeted by Lara Schnitger's installation 'I WAS HERE'. A huge interactive sequined wall covered with images and slogans from her ‘Suffragette City’ project. The work invites you to interact and express your voice so that over time the artist's drawings are overlayed and erased with the voice of the festival participants.
