  • Sunday 30 June
Workshop: Sabaah: Break the norm, 11:00, Flokkr Container #2
  • Sunday 30 June
    19:00, Flokkr

From queer anthems to Grindr grooves, pounding beats to lesbian tunes, drag jams to SWANA swing – the organization Sabaah serves the full spectrum for a vibrant DJ battle!

Sabaah, which works with and for marginalized LGBTQ+ individuals, takes over both the Flokkr stage and a Flokkr container with a DJ battle and workshop.

At the Flokkr stage, you can get closer to various genres and styles as Sabaah celebrates artistic and cultural diversity through music. Here, musician Elijah Kashmir and sociologist Prince Henry compete to get the audience in the mood through their selection of tracks, all created by marginalized LGBTQ+ individuals. The battle is hosted by Jalal Arabi, known from the Danish documentary 'Macho', while DJ sinfohme weaves it all together behind the decks.

If you're interested in delving a bit deeper into norms, norm critique, perceptions, and prejudices about gender, gender expression, ethnicity, sexuality, and body, then join Sabaah's workshop BREAK THE NORM! in the Flokkr container. Here, through conversation and interactive exercises, we discuss how we can make a change and contribute to a more open and embracing society.

Sabaah works specifically to improve the living conditions and rights of marginalized LGBTQ+ individuals, especially within ethnic minorities. In 2018, Sabaah received the several big awards for their work. In 2022, Sabaah was involved in opening RED+, Denmark's first crisis centre for marginalized young LGBT+ individuals.

Jalal Arabi is a stand-up comedian known from the Danish documentary 'Macho'. Jalal has a strong connection to Sabaah as both a participant in activities, speaker, and board member.

Prince Henry Kwesi Asare is a sociologist, debater, and ambassador for the organization Headspace. He is also a board member of the non-profit organization Another Life, which works for increased representation and improved conditions for marginalized individuals and women in Danish music and culture.

Elijah Kashmir is a Palestinian artist and DJ. Their latest album, Resurrection, is both a personal and political album revolving around topics such as homophobia, self-love, and the relationship between Israel and Palestine.

Anira Orlando aka DJ sinfohme, is queer, transgender, and a DJ, playing a wide spectrum of music from Brazilian funk to soft techno. Anira Orlando's music has roots in both Sabaah and Future Female Sounds.
