Yujin Jung: Longing Energies: Ceremonial Recurrence, 11:30, Food Is Now

Dive into the immersive world of Yujin Jung when the South Korean artist guides you on an extraordinary journey through sound art, visuals, and taste in celebrating the revival of life.

In collaboration with 3D artist Gabriel Bott, Yujin Jung presents the 3D audio-visual piece Longing Energies: Ceremonial Demise on the screens on Orange Stage, exploring the depths of ecological change and the eventual demise of immortality.

At Food Is Now, you can get a further taste of Yujin Jung's artistic explorations by experiencing her interconnected audiovisual sonic-cook performance 'Longing Energies: Ceremonial Recurrence' – a sensual ritual of making and eating a traditional seaweed soup.

Yujin Jung’s field recordings, including dynamic oceans and industrial sounds, paint a vivid seascape of engaging futures and dreams. She invites you to explore the cyclical waves of life through the ritual cooking of seaweed soup, enhanced through sounds and interwoven with storytelling. This ritual unlocks messages from matriarchal societies and devises an alternative sound fiction about nature.

Join the collective ceremony at Food Is Now and let the waves of Yujin's sonic exploration redefine your perspective on traditions, myth-telling, time, and place.

Yujin Jung has studied at Goldsmiths College, London, and the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Copenhagen. She was shortlisted for the 'Lumen Art Prize' 2023. She lives and works in Copenhagen.

Yujin Jung’s work is presented at the festival in collaboration with Art Hub Copenhagen as part of Residency To Go 2024.
