FRIDAY 5 JULY

Soaring electronic pop and deep dives into the human soul

  • Friday 5 July

Light and darkness are refracted in Norwegian singer Aurora's dramatic music, where a dreamy, Nordic pop tone embraces inner struggles and demons. All My Demons Greeting Me As A Friend was the title of her powerful 2016 debut album, giving a hint that Aurora may aspire to the highest peaks of pop, but she also delves into the deepest layers of the psyche, making her a highly engaging artist in modern pop. An artist who also uses her voice to address pressing issues such as the climate crisis and racism.

Roskilde Festival audiences were already introduced to her beautiful pop sound when she visited the festival in 2019. Since then, she has performed at many of the world's major festivals, as well as at the Oscars and on shows such as The Late Show and The Howard Stern Show.

In 2022, her latest album, The Gods We Can Touch, was released to a standing ovation. Line of Best Fit called the album "an ethereal masterpiece", while Scandinavian critics en masse called her one of Norway’s greatest artists. Combining mythological and personal themes, the album featured no less than 10 singles and showcased new facets of Aurora's electronic pop universe. With her new single, "Your Blood", she once again delves deep into the fragile beauty of the human mind and sets the stage for a soulful pop ritual at Roskilde.
