Sensuous blend of Kurdish folk music, Nordic moods and pop with an electronic edge

Led by musical powerhouse Luna Ersahin, AySay is on a mission to add more nuances to what Danish music can be. With a Danish mother and a Kurdish father with Turkish roots, Ersahin writes songs that embrace Kurdish and Anatolian folk music, Danish-language ballads, and contemporary and dreamy indie pop with an electronic edge.

These are songs that bridge cultures and breathe through multiple traditions. And it is also a deeply personal universe that is lifted by Ersahin's beautiful voice and imaginative saz playing and by AySay's other musicians, Aske Døssing Bendixen and Carl West Hosbond, who add rich nuances to the sonic universe with a diversity of inspirations and great musicianship.

AySay's debut album, Su Akar, was a breath of fresh air in Danish music when it was released in 2021. Accompanied by critical acclaim and a series of gripping concerts, including at Roskilde Festival in 2022, AySay has built a reputation as a band that can both create a party and touch hearts with wistful sounds. This reputation was cemented with the 2023 album KÖY, which also shows a political side of the band with the solidarity tribute to the struggle of women in Iran and South Kurdistan on the opening song "Ez Kevokim".

Now AySay returns to Roskilde Festival, where they are ready to let you into their beautiful, uplifting and embracing universe.
