Barbro is an artist who insists on creating space for complex emotional states and questions in their music.

With a blend of punk, indie folk and alternative rock, Barbro's raw confessions, anger and vulnerability are released in powerful melodies that have made them a rising name on the Danish music scene.

In 2022, Barbro won the Danish music critics’ prize Steppeulven as Hope of the Year, and in the same year they gave a powerful concert at Roskilde Festival, where the excellent songs soared in versatile arrangements from Barbro's band. When their debut album, Bad Choices, landed the following year, it was to rave reviews, and the songs have proved incredibly durable.

Barbro continues to confront difficult themes with their music. Most recently, the non-binary artist has created music for the documentary film Trans Hero, which revolves around gender and identity as seen through the eyes of children. And in the spring, Barbro released the protest song "Wall of Mine" in collaboration with Mija Milovic (who is also playing at Roskilde Festival), addressing the tragedy in Gaza. The strong commitment shines through in the music, and we look forward to welcoming Barbro back to Roskilde.
