With their excellent melodies, bittersweet lyrics and anti-rockstar attitude, Belle and Sebastian have for almost 30 years been celebrated as understated indie darlings with an impressive song catalog, which they are now bringing to Roskilde Festival.

The Scottish band quickly became a cult name on the indie scene when they emerged with the album Tigermilk in 1996. A string of charming masterpieces soon followed, earning the band a highly dedicated fan base that grew larger thanks to the band's infectious collective live energy.

Their simultaneously melancholic, intelligent and humorous songs that looked at the world from an outsider's perspective led critics to refer to them as heirs to The Smiths, but their folk-pop universe also harked back to the likes of Simon & Garfunkel and helped pave the way for a new acoustic wave in the alternative scene.

Since then, they've maintained their high standards as songwriters while evolving their sound. After a few years of silence, they made an impressive return with two fantastic records within a year - A Bit of Previous (2022) and Late Developers (2023). Belle and Sebastian are definitely back, and this summer they can finally unfold their catalog of both new and old songs at Roskilde Festival.
