Bixiga 70 is an institution in progressive Brazilian music. With ten incredible musicians on stage, the band creates a mind-blowing experience where African rhythms, samba, and Brazilian roots merge with American blaxploitation soundtracks, psychedelic moods, and jazzy improvisations in a powerful unity.

The band's members came together in 2010 in the São Paulo neighborhood of Bixiga, the namesake of the group, which, like the band's own music, is a cultural melting pot influenced in no small part by Afro-Brazilian culture. However, Bixiga 70's name is also a reference to Afrobeat king Fela Kuti's legendary Africa 70, and like Kuti, the band transforms rich cultural roots into intoxicating music that glows with revolutionary energy.

Bixiga 70 have long since moved from the Bixiga neighborhood to several of the world's leading festivals, and in 2013 they visited Roskilde Festival with their extravagant fusion of Afro-Brazilian rhythms, powerful horn riffs and acid jazz excursions.

Most recently, Bixiga 70 released the excellent album Vapor, where spacy synths and a raw funk feel find their way into the band's horn-driven and polyrhythmic universe. A transcendent experience awaits when the ten musicians return to Roskilde with their amazing live energy.
