Conceptual art, media satire and a mind-blowing musical universe come together in the fascinating world of cumgirl8. The four Brooklyn-based musicians have described themselves as both an artist collective and a "sex-positive alien amoeba entity".
They design their own clothes and produce a talk show, and rooted in the DIY approach of punk, they use their music and art to attack conformist gender roles. With a self-proclaimed position as "gender outlaws", they celebrate a queer and sex-positive universe while creating thick satire on the mainstream media's capitalization on female sexuality in particular.
Musically, cumgirl8 creates a fluid universe where post-punk guitars, ethereal shoegaze and pop bangers combine, drawing inspiration from Suicide, The Slits and Cocteau Twins to the B-52's and Madonna. In 2023, the band was signed to the legendary 4AD, who released the stunning EP phantasea pharm. This year, cumgirl8 have announced their debut album with the powerful lead single "glasshour".
At the band's concerts, their artistic concepts, colorful outfits and refreshing take on post-punk come together in flamboyant unity, which is something to look forward to when they visit Roskilde Festival with brand new material.
