Behind the artist name Debit we find Delia Beatriz, who, with roots in Monterrey, Mexico and a base in the USA, has made a name for herself as one of the most interesting electronic musicians and DJs on the Latin American scene. She manages to create sound worlds that flow imperceptibly between avant-garde experiments, ambient drones, ethnographic examinations, and obsessive club rhythms rooted in reggaeton and other Latin American dance genres.
Her fusion of club rhythms with experimental ambient made her 2018 debut album, Animus, a highly praised release by Fact, Resident Advisor, Noisey and others. Since then, she has impressed time and time again, not least with the groundbreaking and critically acclaimed album The Long Count. Here, Debit literally unites the deep roots of the past with visionary visions of the future, coupling the sound of ancient Mayan flutes with AI technology to create music that truly sounds like nothing else.
