Don’t expect a dusty history lesson when the young band English Teacher invites you on a tour of their musical universe. While the four musicians certainly know their way around the references in the history of British guitar music – from jangly post-punk to soaring dream pop – they also have a refreshing approach to guitar-driven alternative music.

The band is rooted in the Leeds music scene, which they praise for its diversity, with musicians coming together across genres such as jazz, electronic, folk, and indie. This may also partly explain English Teachers' free musical approach and quirky lyrical universe, which has charmed audiences and critics alike since the band released their first EP, Polyawkward in 2022.

That same year they created a lot of hype at Glastonbury's Emerging Talent Competition. Since then, the band have gone from strength to strength, signing to Island Records in 2023, playing numerous festivals and releasing a string of strong singles, with 'Nearly Daffodils' being named one of the top 10 songs of the year by Time Magazine.

In 2024, the band has teased that big things are going to happen. One of the things we are certainly excited about is that the band will finally visit Denmark when they come to Roskilde Festival this summer with their lyrical, intelligent, and original art rock.
