Although Evian Christ didn't release his debut album until 2023, the British producer has been pushing electronic music forward for over 10 years with stunning soundscapes that draw heavily on the legacy of trance music. And when the Brit takes over the Apollo stage, it's with a celestial rave featuring everything from trance, techno, to apocalyptic club atmosphere.

In fact, trance music is something Evian Christ – real name Joshua Leary – literally inherited from his father, who was a DJ on the UK trance scene of the 90s. Leary took over a number of vintage keyboards from his father and with them he began producing music that ended up on the Kings and Them mixtape in 2012.

Evian Christ's deconstructed post-trance caused such a stir that the following year he was enlisted as one of the producers on Kanye West's Yeezus album. Since then, Evian Christ has produced for the likes of Travis Scott and Tinashe, released a number of EPs and cultivated his love of trance music in the live format TranceParty, where he has curated acts such as Arca and Laurel Halo.

In 2023, his debut album Revanchist was finally released on Warp Records. An album that Pitchfork called: "a ghostly love letter to the pure melodrama and overstimulating sensation of trance music". With its blend of sublime soundscapes, hyperpop vocals and apocalyptic meltdowns, the album is a culmination of over 10 years of dedicated work and shows Evian Christ as one of the most visionary figures in a new wave of trance musicians.
