Let yourself be transported into a multi-sensory and Afrofuturistic universe when Ugandan artist Faizal Mostrixx takes over Roskilde Festival with a late night performance.
Mostrixx's album Mutations, released on Glitterbeat in 2023, has caused quite a stir in the electronic music scene. The album has been described as an Afrofuturist manifesto, while showing exciting new directions in Uganda's thriving scene of experimental electronic music.
However, the visionary figure is much more than just a musician, and his work blends dance, choreography, visual art, music and social activism into a unified whole, as seen in his stage show Afro-Aliens, a multimedia experience that ambitiously linked ancient Egypt and East Africa with elements of cosmic sci-fi and Sun Ra inspiration.
In his own words: "Afrofuturism is a way to describe the meeting of the electronic and the tribal. It's about bringing the past into the now and then imagining how it could be expressed in the future". This hyper-modern yet tribal energy is something he is truly able to embrace, not only with his wild sonic creations, but especially on stage, where music and dance elevate to a higher ritual experience.
