Raised in East London by parents of Gambian descent, J Hus has used his cultural roots to create an expression with massive global appeal. He grew up listening to his family's African music at parties, but was also quickly exposed to grime, hip-hop and dancehall, all of which have left their mark on his own music.

His 2017 debut album Common Sense was not only seen as a strong personal statement. The album's fusion of Afrobeats, raw London hip-hop and dancehall was also hailed as a pioneering work within the Afroswing movement.

Common Sense was both a commercial success and a critical darling, entering many significant annual critics’ polls. Since then, J Hus has continued his winning streak with his unique expression, more critically acclaimed albums and collaborations with Drake, Jamaican singer/rapper Koffee and, not least, the Afropop star Burna Boy, who delivered an epic party at Roskilde Festival in 2023.

This year, J Hus is ready to follow in his footsteps with his distinct Afroswing expression, his stunning rap flow and huge stage charisma. Recently, he released the album Beautiful and Brutal Yard, which not only went straight to number one on the UK Albums Chart, but was hailed as another masterpiece from his hand. We can safely promise that J Hus will be in top form when he takes on Roskilde.
