With their open approach to guitar rock, American band Jane's Addiction have led the way for much of the alternative music culture that followed after. Formed in 1985 by vocalist Perry Farrell and bassist Eric Avery, the band is often cited as a band that defined 90s alternative rock and grunge, but their often jazzy blend of metal, funk and post-punk has also inspired everything from 90s alternative funk rock to the nu metal wave.

Their first two albums Nothing's Shocking (1988) and Ritual de lo Habitual (1990) stand today as deeply original and stone cold classics that paved the way for new approaches to rock. The list of names they have inspired is almost endless, and current Roskilde acts like Foo Fighters and The Armed would hardly exist without these eclectic legends. The band has also left its mark on modern festival culture, as Perry Farrell founded the American festival Lollapalooza as part of an original farewell tour for the band in 1991.

Since then, Jane's Addiction has resurfaced in various constellations. And a rush of excitement went through the alternative rock community when, in 2022, the band reunited with Eric Avery for the first time in over 10 years and not only played a series of shows, but also announced new material. For concerts in 2023, they have already unveiled the first new material in 10 years in the form of the song "True Love", and we can hope for even more new songs and of course a whole host of classics when the legends visit Roskilde.
