It took 13 years from the release of Brooklyn singer Julie Christmas' first solo album The Bad Wife to the single "Not Enough" which arrived in 2023. However, the expressive singer, who has previously made her mark in noisy projects like Made Out of Babies and Battle of Mice, hasn't been idle in the meantime.

In 2016, she impressed listeners with her vocal contribution to post-metal band Cult of Luna's masterpiece Mariner, and she has also contributed vocals to the dark collective Strings of Consciousness. Musically, she has spanned a multitude of genres, but a common denominator is an interest in the dark paths of the mind and heavily rumbling musical soundscapes, with plenty of atmosphere and elements of metal, noise rock, gothic ballads and experimental explorations.

The dark and dramatic universe is reminiscent of an artist like Lydia Lunch, but in a more metallic setting. Her new material shows that she still manages to deliver music with brutal heaviness, nightmarish moods and a fascinating musical unpredictability.

That she is also a master when it comes to staging the drama of the songs live, she proved with a triumph of a concert at the influential Dutch festival Roadburn recently. A concert that creates high expectations for the upcoming solo album – and not least for her performance at Roskilde, where she will give an extremely rare Danish concert.
