There has been no shortage of ecstatic reviews since young Dallas artist Liv.e released her sophomore album Girl in The Half Pearl in early 2023. The album has been hailed for its eclectic and personal take on soul music, has been named Best New Music on Pitchfork, and has appeared on several lists of the best releases of 2023.

Like many American soul singers, Liv.e grew up in a musical family and sang gospel, but she was hesitant to go down the musical path. The rest of us are lucky that she did. With her debut album Couldn't Wait to Tell You (2020) and Girl in The Half Pearl, she has established herself as a vital artist who manages to capture personal pain, vulnerability, and a sense of empowerment in a soundscape that elegantly alternates between tender soul, quirky jazzy passages, raw hip-hop beats and psychedelic sounds.

Liv.e cites jazz musician Wayne Shorter and R&B singer Lalah Hathaway as inspirations, but her music is very much pointing to the future. It's music that sounds modern and timeless, experimental, and inclusive, and on stage the songs are delivered by a sublime voice with loads of charisma and attitude, flanked by a groovy team of musicians. We are up for a psychedelic soul experience of the highest order when she visits Roskilde.
