Since her debut album, Ojunifé, Majur has been a rapidly rising star in the Brazilian music scene with songs that delve into complex emotions and vibrate with both vulnerability and empowerment.

She grew up in Bahia, a region heavily influenced by Afro-Brazilian culture, and the upbringing is evident in Majur's music, which combines Afro-pop and Brazilian popular music with R&B influences. Majur has also cited Grace Jones' groundbreaking and futuristic style as a strong inspiration.

Majur grew up with a mother who was deeply involved in social work in a poor region and who opened the world of music to Majur by getting her into a church choir. For Majur, music is still a source of personal acceptance, identity, spirituality, and social engagement. Being a trans person herself, that engagement has been particularly focused on creating greater acceptance of minorities in society and strengthening queer communities.

On her latest album, Arrisca, this commitment goes hand in hand with a series of excellent songs that both embrace rich Afro-Brazilian roots and point to the future, and are lifted by a unique voice that we're really looking forward to experiencing at Roskilde!
