With his ability to create universes that fuse bass-heavy club vibes with deconstructed electronic soundscapes and sublime pop sounds, the Irish artist Sega Bodega has earned himself a reputation as a sought-after producer at the experimental end of the pop music spectrum.
He has recently produced for the likes of FKA Twigs, Eartheater and Caroline Polachek, and was also called in to help on Björk and Rosalía's collaboration "Oral". However, he is best known for his close creative collaboration with Shygirl, who will also perform at this year’s Roskilde, and with whom he founded the record label Nuxxe.
Sega Bodega is not just a sound magician in the big league. In his own songs, he demonstrates an almost fearless honesty as he reflects on mental vulnerability, grief and abuse, while wrapping his harsh insights in a transcendent soundscape of electronic pop music.
The acclaimed 2021 album Romeo showed him as a true pop auteur with a conceptual sensibility and featured collaborations with the likes of Arca and Charlotte Gainsbourg. When Bodega visits Roskilde this summer, it will be with the brand new album Dennis, which conceptually revolves around the borderland between sleep and wakefulness. A borderland that Bodega masterfully orchestrates with his dreamy and suggestive soundscapes.
