With musical nods to artists such as David Bowie, The Sparks and Kate Bush, The Last Dinner Party have brought theatrical pomp, decadence, and grand gestures back in British rock. On their recently released debut album, “Prelude to Ecstasy”, they also demonstrate a superior songwriting ability of a caliber that justifies the massive hype that has preceded the album.

The hype was already building when the band hit London venues in 2022, and before they had even released a single, they were invited to support The Rolling Stones in Hyde Park.

When first single “Nothing Matters” landed in the spring of 2023, it was an instant classic, prompting The Guardian to write: "A chorus so preposterously nailed-on that, on first listen, you could already imagine a field full of festivalgoers howling along to it." The same qualities can be found on the rest of the richly orchestrated and catchy debut album, where bittersweet truths about modern society are wrapped up in glam and baroque aesthetics.

Attending a concert with The Last Dinner Party is like getting an invitation to a hedonistic cabaret, and the band has made a point of announcing dress codes for their shows in advance. Whether there will be a dress code at Roskilde is unknown, but a lavish banquet of epic songs is guaranteed.
