It's not only as gifted innovators of Danish-language songwriting that the Aarhus quintet Zar Paulo has made a strong impression on the Danish music scene. Over the past year, they have really established themselves as a live act in a league of their own. 

Those who witnessed the band's performance at Roskilde Festival's First Days in 2023 were in no doubt. Here, Zar Paulo created an explosive party without sacrificing the artistic edge of their sharp new wave-inspired electro rock. 

It's wacky, entertaining and thoroughly musical, and in lead singer Emil Vammen, the band has a front figure with an incredible energy that is lifted by the musicians' terrific interplay. It's certainly no coincidence that Danish critics are almost at each other's throats to proclaim Zar Paulo as one of Denmark's best live bands right now. 

There has been no shortage of praise for their debut album Elendig Software either. The album, which was released in 2023, was proclaimed a new classic by Danish music magazine Soundvenue, and Zar Paulo must be said to have set a high standard from the start. However, they just seem to keep getting better and better, and a great concert experience is guaranteed when the band returns to Roskilde and takes on our Arena stage this summer.
