Background

At Roskilde Festival, returning containers for deposit (pant) means much more than just returning bottles and receiving money. Pant is, among other things, an essential part of the green transition. Did you know that on the festival grounds, we also have deposits on shot tubes because the plastic quality is so good that it makes sense to reuse them?

Task

Pant booths are known as areas where sorting and cleaning up take place, while languages and cultures mix because pant is also a meeting place for many different people.

As a pant booth, you are responsible for:

  • Receiving deposits
  • Counting and sorting deposits
  • Paying out deposit values
  • Assisting in returning deposits to the recycling system

As an association, you can choose between a short commitment, where your volunteers engage for 24 hours during the festival, or a standard commitment, where volunteers participate for 32 hours. You should provide between 40 to 150 volunteers, depending on what is feasible for your association. The volunteers you involve in the task must be at least 15 years old.

We offer

In addition to earning money for your association and providing your volunteers with festival access (which you can read more about here), you will also have the opportunity to be a part of the future development of the deposit area at Roskilde Festival. You will work closely with excellent people from Team Pant and other deposit associations, and we will ensure that you are well-instructed for the task.

You will be allocated your own backstage area at the festival and will be invited to social and professional events throughout the year with the rest of the large volunteer community behind Roskilde Festival.

Your association's competencies

We are looking for associations ready to try new things and be part of a multi-year collaboration. We envision that you are an association with a large network and close relationships with your members. You don't need to be familiar with the theme of deposits; we will teach you that. However, it is important that you have plenty of determination and drive.

Does this sound like something for you?

Then send an email to wienke.reimer@roskilde-festival.dk with a few lines about who you are and why you would like to participate. Of course, you are also welcome to reach out if you have further questions about the task. We enter into agreements with new associations on an ongoing basis and will take down the posting when all positions are filled.

We look forward to hearing from you!

About the role

We are looking for 1-2 unions who can be responsible for keeping the area around the toilets clean, including refilling toilet paper, hand soap and changing sanitary bags. The toilets are located in the area around the stages Eos and Gaia, and is open from Saturday to Saturday; the toilets must be manned in the approximate hours between 08-04. All volunteers must be 32-hour volunteers and the number of volunteers is negotiable. The area around Eos and Gaia is full of colours, light and sound, and there will be music all days. It is an area where many people come to enjoy a meal or a beverage from one of the area’s bars and food stands.

About you

As a service union you will be helping festivalgoers answering questions and give guidance before sending them on their way. Your primary role is to keep the area clean and be the best hosts for your area. You don’t have to have experience with festivals, as long as you bring high spirits and want to be part of creating the next festival.

About us

We are a small 3-man team of all-year volunteers, and during the festival we swell up to about 20 volunteers. We are responsible for keeping public toilets and shower facilities clean. We collaborate with service unions in Camping, and 3-5 service unions in our own team who are responsible for the toilets on the Inner Festival Area.

We offer

We have a close collaboration with our unions and there is a big chance to be part of the planning, depending on your role and contribution. We collaborate with very experienced unions who are eager to put their expertise at our disposal in the form of advice or mentorship during this first festival. The union is offered a limited role, which is paid DKK1,440 per 32-hour volunteer, plus a couple of union co-creators to manage the volunteers. The union will be responsible for meals for their volunteers.

Do you want to join the team?

If you want to join the festival and earn some money for your union at the same time, please contact Henriette.erichsen@roskilde-festival.dk for more information. We can arrange a meeting, where we either visit the union or you visit Roskilde Festival’s offices to learn more about the task and about being a service union at Roskilde Festival.
