Isabel Lewis presents Urban Flourishing. On several occasions, Isabel Lewis will create and host a performance attuned to Roskilde Festival’s guests and their energies. You will be invited to join Lewis in a collective choreography of slow and silent walking amidst the frenetic activities of socialising, comings and goings that occur at the festival ground.
Trained in literary criticism, dance and philosophy, artist and choreographer Isabel Lewis’ work takes on many different formats: from lecture performances and workshops to music sessions, parties, installations and what she calls ‘hosted occasions’. Incorporating influences from dance, performance, conversation and active listening, Lewis has created a bodily practice that focuses on public expressions of care, sociability and the opportunity to expand one’s senses – together or alone.
For Lewis, there is radical potential in making time to assemble, share bodily experiences and knowledge and to engage differently with ourselves, one another and our built environment.
Isabel Lewis’ Urban Flourishing is part of the Youth & Community performance program curated by Aukje Lepoutre Ravn. The performances will take place in Viron Erol Vert’s Ambereum located between Art Zone and Arena.
Isabel Lewis is a Berlin-based artist, dancer and choreographer born in 1981 in the Dominican Republic and raised on a man-made island of the coast of southwest Florida.
