Roskilde Festival's organizational structure

The voluntary, unpaid work force is a cornerstone in Roskilde Festival’s foundation. During the festival, we have up to 25,000 voluntary workers – no other festival has been able to develop such a massive source of voluntary employees.

Roskilde Festival has about 25 full-time permanent employees who carry out the daily tasks and service the several thousand volunteers.

Furthermore, there are approximately 400 permanent volunteers who all year round spend a great deal of their spare time on taking care of various tasks.

Since there are so many voluntary “employees,” the festival organisers have defined some general ’task sections.’

In each section there are various subsections in which the volunteers work all year round. The communication between the volunteers and the festival management goes through the leaders of the various main sections, who make sure that the volunteers carry out their tasks.
