DEERHOOF (US/JPN)Sunday 05.07.09 - 19:00 - Pavilion Rabid and pink at the same time. Only few bands manage, like Deerhoof, to be alternately reminiscent of Picasso and Pokémon. The American band fronted by the Japanese singer has existed since the mid-90s. In the course of countless albums, they have made a name for themselves as one of indie rock's most uncomformable and challenging bands. Satomi Matsuzaki's girly vocals add a certain naïve touch to the music. However, do not rely on that. Deerhoof constantly balances on a razor's edge between sugary pop and discordant, seasick harmonies. Links Back | ![]() Avant-garde sugary pop - photo: Eric Landmark |
