We are by now way past the 90s. Many of the distinctive features of the decade almost seem kitsch today.

In many ways, the British band Nedry has the trip hop sound of that time as the point of departure. But the trio throws dubstep and nerdy laptop electronica into the mix, making the result both nostalgic and brand-new.

In addition, the band’s Japanese lead singer Ayu Okakita adds both femininity and vulnerability to the electrically spinning tunes.

Nedry appeals to fans of dubstep from the 00s and classic albums by Massive Attack and Portishead from the 90s.
