Music at Roskilde

Roskilde Festival goes out of its way to presenting music that lives up to the high expectations of the audience.

Musicians representing all conceivable genres, from all over the world, play minimum one-hour sets on the smaller stages and often 90-minutes sets on the biggest stages. The long sets make the Roskilde Festival music experience fundamentally different from most competing festivals in Europe.

Another distinctive feature at Roskilde Festival is the breaks between concerts on each stage, allowing the audience a much more fulfilling festival and harmonic experience.

The attention to sound and lighting also distinguishes Roskilde Festival from most other outdoor musical events, as sound, light and visuals at Roskilde Festival are absolutely first-rate and form an integrated part of the experience.

Throughout the years, Roskilde Festival has presented acts such as Arcade Fire, Arctic Monkeys, Beastie Boys, Björk, Black Sabbath, David Bowie,  Solomon Burke, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, The Chemical Brothers, Coldplay, The Cure, Bob Dylan, Faith No More, Foo Fighters, Guns N’ Roses, Iron Maiden, Jay-Z, Grace Jones, Judas Priest, The Killers, Kings of Leon, Korn, Kraftwerk, Marilyn Manson, Bob Marley, Metallica, Muse, My Bloody Valentine, New Order, Nirvana, Queens Of The Stone Age, Radiohead, Rage Against The Machine, Rammstein, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Slayer, Slipknot, The Streets, The Strokes, Talking Heads, Tiësto, Tool, U2, Robbie Williams, Roger Waters, Kanye West, The White Stripes, The Who, Brian Wilson, Wu-Tang Clan, Neil Young and many many others.

Musical surprises and insights into the trends of tomorrow are combined with the big stars delivering the communal experience. This way Roskilde Festival attracts a large international audience year after year.

New acts on a continuous basis

Unlike many other festivals, Roskilde Festival does not announce its entire music programme all at once. The first act is typically revealed in the beginning of the year - and thereafter we announce new names throughout winter and spring.

Wednesday typically means new additions to the programme for our thousands of dedicated followers. The complete programme contains approx. 150 artists.
