Wednesday 27.01.10 New bands ready for Roskilde 2010Today's music package features three varied acts from Canada and Denmark. AFENGINN (DK) call their music 'bastard etno' and may soon take a seat next to Kaizers Orchestra and Gogol Bordello. Band leader Kim Nyberg and his entourage of mad musicians mix klezmer with Danish fiddler music in their own bubbling witch’s cauldron. BLACKIE AND THE RODEO KINGS (CAN) is a so-called super group in Canada, made up of three highly recognised solo artists and sought-after session musicians. But in this constellation, the trio finally get an opportunity to practice their love for roots rock, country, blues and folk. THE RUMOUR SAID FIRE (DK) is Denmark's new rock hope. They nestle impressively up to the sounds of Simon & Garfunkel, The Beach Boys and Fleet Foxes, and they collect awards and acknowledgement even though they have only released one single, but highly promising EP. More coming on Monday | ![]() The Rumour Said Fire masters gorgeous vocal harmonies and nostalgic folk-pop. |
