K-X-P knows the spell-binding magic of the motorik beat. The one that the krautrockers of the 70s used to drive their songs onwards, far into the night and into transcendence.
That beat is one that K-X-P has latched onto. And they use it well!
The Finnish band mixes electronics, noise, pop melodies and even techno into a hypnotic and minimalistic groove.
The band’s self-titled debut (2010) was a masterstroke of rhythmic, primal splurges charged with duelling drums and indecipherable vocals. Its successor form 2013, titled II, took two steps forward, easing poppier swells within those impenetrable squalls. The third chapter, titled… you guessed it, III, was divided into two separate parts, released in 2015 and 2016. Here, the band continued its primal journey along intergalactic motorik highways.
The band is readying up new material. The new album, IV (yes!), will hurtle forward into new realms of minimal techno, icy synths and brooding atmospheres.
K-X-P played Roskilde Festival back in 2013 on our talent stage, Countdown. Now they’re ready to come back. And they’re bringing something big and monstrous. On stage, K-X-P is an intense affair full of droning noise. Their hypnotically pounding live shows are often improvisational and usually very loud.
