“It’s just a matter of time till everybody loves Lizzo,” says one article about the smart, sassy and strong Minneapolis rapper and singer Lizzo.
Lizzo has the most fun attitude to come to rap since Missy Elliot. Her songs are infectious as h***, as is her personality. She raps and sings, and she’s got a vital message of both joy and empowerment in her music and style.
By her own declaration, Lizzo has been at the forefront of the positive movement. Which positive movement? All of them! She’s sex positive, body positive (hers and yours), and vocally she practices self-love and self-care.
Just listen to her fantastic anthem from 2016, "Good as Hell" (lots of praise for it here). Lizzo has said that her music is written for those who have felt disenfranchised by society, because that is the experience she has had throughout her life. “Good As Hell” is one of those songs. It’s catchy, a huge hit and the best thing? One of many bangers.
Lizzo has released two solo albums so far – Lizzobangers (2014) and Big GRRRL Small World (2015) – and they are full of bombastic pop songs.
In January, she released “Juice”, an energetic funk affirmation that should have Bruno Mars watching his throne. She also has a single, “Tempo”, out with Missy Elliott (her big hero). Both will end up on Lizzo’s third album, Cuz I Love You, which will be out on 19 April. We predict that Lizzo will blast open the doors to the international music scene. She deserves it!
Lizzo is a whole bag of fun. When she plays live, she levels up on positive energy with astonishing vocals and a charisma that spellbinds everyone (just look here). You don’t want to miss her show when she plays Roskilde Festival 2019.
