Masked witch doctor takes you on a wild trip through African tribal rhythms and samples from now and then

A producer and percussionist from Tunisia, now living in Copenhagen, Nuri is one of the upcoming promising musicians of African futurism, mixing deep bass, organic percussion with polyrhythmic grooves, sharing bills with names like Clap Clap and Dengue Dengue Dengue.

Lately, he released his debut album on Shouka, a label focusing on traditional music and contemporary electronic from North Africa and beyond.

Drup is a tribute to Tunisian’s African heritage and a bridge to other traditions, replete with percussions and vocals from all over the mother continent, but also from Asia, combined with digital work to constitute an amalgam of then and now.

Onstage Nuri is a masked witch doctor, conducting a deep ritual which is a journey into the lost roots of his homeland. Heritage, tribalism, organic sounds, melodies and a pack of emotions.

Come get lost in Nuri’s sounds when he plays the Countdown stage at Roskilde Festival 2019.
