Ak Dan Gwang Chil (abbreviated as ADG7) first got together in 2015 to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Korea from Japanese colonial ruleThe group performs repertoire from the sacred, shamanic, and secular gut (ritual music) and minyo (folk song) traditions of the Hwanghae-do region, nowadays a western province of North Korea. 

Using traditional instruments like the gayageum and ajaeng (zithers), piri (reed flute), daegeum (bamboo flute), janggu drums and other percussion, ADG7 extract and enhance the groove potential of the ritual rhythms, driving along the call-and-response chants, fronted by the charismatic figure of singer Hong Ok. 

Their powerful engaging performance will immerse you into a spiritual experience and bring blessings of positive energy originating from gut and minyo. 

ADG7 reflects the importance of combining modern music and tradition. 

The band has performed on festival stages in Russia, United States, South America and Europe. Now it’s Roskilde Festival’s turn. Come get a special taste of freedom music.
