House grooves and pop hits from fast rising star

How do you spend your time as a teenager growing up on the tiny island of Guernsey located off the coast of France (here!)? Easy, you drop some beats on Soundcloud and watch the magic unfold! Four years later you’ve notched up two Grammy nominations, and you’re in the studio with the likes of A$AP Rocky, NAO, Charli XCX and Damon Albarn.

Alex Crossan aka Mura Masa is a new electronic music wiz with an uncanny sense of rhythm and an absurd feel for catchy melodies. Listen to “Love$ick” right now if you don’t know him!

The 23-year-old producer grew up on a healthy diet of Cashmere Cat, SBTRK, Hudson Mohawke and James Blake – along with early influences from iconic British bands like Gorillaz and The Smiths. Mura Masa’s synthesis of old and new sounds makes him both accessible and influential in the pop space.

He cherry-picks rap collaborators for jazz fusion tracks, mix elements of old-world house with rising R&B stars and use glittery, synth production to offset new indie-pop vocalists. It has defined him as both a producer/tastemaker who transcends the tradition of genre.

Mura Masa released his self-titled debut album in 2017 with a star-studded list of collaborators, which earned him the two Grammy nominations (best electronic album and best recording package).

Mura Masa has released several singles since then, including “Complicated” and “Move Me”. Good news! A new album will be out in 2020. Mura Masa is almost destined to become a household name.

Catch Mura Masa at Roskilde Festival 2020 – a return for this young star who first played here in 2016.
