Now you can catch Branco for the first time performing a full show under his own name. It happens at Summer Days in Roskilde!
Branco has been called the Danish rapper whose efforts everyone else shall be measured against. And there may be some truth to that statement. The numbers on the streaming services speak for themselves, and the mantelpiece at home may need an expansion with all the awards he’s winning.
And within the music itself there is a fiery gangster drama going on, which is so corrosive, immersive and sing-along-catchy that few others in Denmark can keep up.
Branco is a child of the Copenhagen suburbs. The ghetto jungle was his reality for many years. It led him into a criminal slippery slope that could easily have had a fatal end. With music as his beacon, he raps about the street life he has long since turned his back on.
Branco first wrote himself into Danish rap history as one half of MiddleFingaMuzik and as part of the Molotov Movement before he moved onwards to make music under his own name.
From here on, things really took pace!
In recent years, he has cemented his status as Denmark's currently biggest rapper.
His albums – Baba Business and Baba Business 2 – work a soundtrack for the youth, booming in speakers and headphones around the country of Denmark, and in 2020 Branco took home three awards from DMA (Danish Music Awards).
With his backstory, the simultaneously hard-melancholically produced tracks and the drama he puts into his stories, Branco strikes with maximum effect. His gangster tales suck his listeners into a cinematic world that is only Branco's.
Branco performs at Summer Days on 25 June alongside Amina and FVN.
