A union of Nordic music and Turkish roots. A melting pot of sounds and languages that fascinate

Aarhus band AySay celebrates diversity in a divided world.

AySay is a Danish/Kurdish trio from the Danish city of Aarhus, led by Luna Bülow Ersahin on vocals and saz (traditional Anatolian string instrument in the lute family).

Together with Aske Døssing Bendixen on drums and Carl West Hosbond on guitar, she creates a fascinating and atypical kind of roots music that blends elements from traditional Anatolian folk music with modern Western pop. Even the language of choice is fluid: They sing in both Danish, Turkish and Kurdish. A wonderful melting pot of music that stands out with a unique expression.

In 2021, the trio released the beautiful debut album Su Akar ('water flows' in Turkish), which Danish music magazine GAFFA called "unforgettable". The songs are full of feelings of sadness, longing and hope. Even though you don't always understand the language they sing in, the music speaks its own crystal-clear language. It's a beautiful musical universe that sucks you in. It's music made for big dreams. Created as a celebration of cultural diversity.
