With hot African grooves mixed with laidback electronic beats, young Danish/Tanzanian artist JJ Paulo brings a brand-new sound with his African band.
JJ Paulo made his debut in 2016 with the single "Baba Mufasa", which was followed up with debut EP Born in Africa in 2017. In 2019, he released two EPs, Yxng Mufasa and Bujoram.
It has generated a lot buzz around JJ Paulo.
He’s been played both on Danish and Swedish radio – and BBC Radio has also taken a liking to the artist (just listen here).
JJ Paulo is an insisting, self-made artist who has turned down several big players because he wants to be in charge himself.
The Sound of Africa is the title of JJ Paulo’s latest EP which was recorded in his country of birth, Tanzania. When the hot songs are to be played live, JJ is bringing a six-piece band who will really get the music rocking.
When you first experience JJ Paulo, you are invited into a fantastic universe of music and, not least, dance which is always a collective activity.
JJ Paulo has said that he wasn’t interested in attending Roskilde Festival before he was in the line-up. He actually was in 2020, but that didn’t happen. JJ has not gotten any less hot since then, so we’re inviting him back to the festival in 2022.
