Soulful tunes from young talent

Mekdes is a new voice on the Danish music scene. She is not a tall figure on a stage, but her voice certainly makes up for it with plenty of warmth and body to fill any room she sings into.

23-year-old Mekdes comes from the Danish town of Kolding where she writes her songs. Her danceable mix of R&B, neo-soul and pop is simply irresistible.

Mekdes started making music at a young age. In her early teens, she uploaded a song on Instagram. It didn’t take long before she was approached by labels (and X Factor whom she politely rejected) who sensed her huge talent.

And speaking of talent – in 2021 Mekdes won the esteemed talent award at the Danish award show P3 Guld.

The singer with the honey-coated voice released her first EP in 2020, Fly, which delivered equal doses of soul and heartbreak. Mekdes has released more songs since then, not least the single ”Hanging Upside Down” which has won a lot of airplay on Danish radio.

In early 2022, the debut album Greedy was released. It is full of groovy neo-soul with great beats and Mekdes’ twisting phrasings, and it lives up to all the promises that her earlier releases has shown.

When Mekdes plays Roskilde Festival 2022, she is joined by a full band. Together, they will play a gig as hot as the summer sun.
