Smag på dig selv translates to ‘taste yourself’. It would be an understatement to say that they are a wild live band. They are notorious for occupying the dance floor and forcing any ego to surrender to the dance flu.
Armed with two saxophones and percussion, the band makes a ballistic soup with ingredients like swing, punk, Balkan music, drum'n'bass and acoustic techno, and they incorporate everything from screams and poetry to traffic cones and ice-boxes on stage.
In recent years, they have played all over the country and made various European detours. So, it’s a red-hot band that takes the stage, and they seem to have just one agenda: everything is allowed! Fortunately, they are also the kind of band that makes sure anything is possible. Even the unthinkable.
In September 2020, Smag på dig selv featured on the Christiania tribute album Stik dem en plade!, and shortly after the band released their debut EP Dunkelkraft, which comes pretty close to the live energy the band possesses.
The band name asks us to taste ourselves. Let’s taste the music instead. It tastes both funky, jazzy, peculiar and like some good old fun. It doesn’t get much better than that.
Come experience Smag på dig selv when they blow you off the Rising stage at Roskilde Festival 2022.
