Denmark's evergreen pop singer re-visits Roskilde Festival

In Denmark, Thomas Helmig needs no introduction. He is the pop artist who has managed to stay relevant in the Danish music scene for four decades. Helmig’s sound is made of equal parts soul, funk and pop, carefully dosed into a myriad of hit songs, sometimes sung in Danish, sometimes sung in English. It has won Helmig not only numerous chart-toppers – and simultaneously loads of music awards – but also the hearts of many music lovers.

Thomas Helmig has won honourary awards, written a football world cup song, made film soundtracks and musicals. He has also played with almost everybody from the Danish music scene.

Thomas Helmig is no stranger at Roskilde Festival. He has played here six times already. The first time was in 1986 with the band Thomas Helmig Brothers. He knows what it takes to get a party started. Only few artists manage, like Helmig does, to have a stage presence full of vigour and intimacy – no matter if you’re at the very front or the far back.

57-year-old Thomas Helmig has proven over and over again that he – 30 years after his solo debut – is in top shape. When he plays live, he embraces his entire career with a set list that takes the best of the first and the biggest of the latest. He shows that he is an important part of the great Danish songbook.
