IT'S TIME TO ACT. AND IT'S ALL ABOUT SOLIDARITY!

Experiences
Climate activists, youth movements, authors and artists inspire hope, community, action and global change at Roskilde Festival 2022.

Art and activism can inspire or provoke us into debates and conversations about what is happening in the world around us.

And the artists and activists around us in particular can inspire change and push our thoughts and attitudes.

This year's programme is filled with reflections on the state of the world in 2022, and today we're adding 68 artists and activist movements to your coming festival experience.

DakhaBrakha is a Ukrainian band that mixes folklore and theatre with a political sting. Look forward to an emotional show that will showcase the rich Ukranian culture.

From Katharina Grosse's call for solidarity and community with her work Destroy Me Once, Destroy Me Twice, a 2000 square metre-sized colourful painting and dance floor in the middle of the campsite, to the activists from the Ukrainian-Danish Youth House who will talk about solidarity in these horrible times characterised by a brutal war. You can also meet a couple of activist Ukrainian music acts: Alyona Alyona and DakhaBrakha.

In our 'community centre' Flokkr, you'll meet climate activists from Fridays for Future, and you can get answers to your questions in the live ‘problem page’ Kh Underlivet (translates to ‘yours truly, your lower body’).

And our new venue Platform will be a meeting place for today's boundary-pushing artistic hybrid expressions. Here you will be sucked into Aïsha Devi's abstract sound worlds and Tino Sehgal's sensory-stimulating work This Variation.

We call this part of the festival experience Time to Act!

Take a deep dive into the programme with this guide.

What do we mean when we say it's time to act?

The answer is that more than ever we all need to stand closer together, face ourselves and each other and find some solutions. Solutions that go beyond ourselves and cross borders.

Human rights are under pressure. The climate crisis is devastating. People are driven to flee by war.

We need to come up with a new blueprint. To think in new ways of living and being in the world. We must ensure development together. Not at the expense of nature or people but in solidarity and with care.

Therefore, it is solidarity that connects art, conversations, activism, music and the celebration of community at Roskilde Festival. In the programme, art can unite and move us, start up dialogues and critical awareness, stimulate without derailing, inspire hope and ignite courage.

Solidarity must be followed by action. And action must take place now. Because even if we can't change the past we can still influence the future.

But solidarity alone is not enough. Solidarity must be followed by action. And action must take place now. Because even if we can't change the past we can still influence the future. We can put an end to the overuse and misuse of natural resources. We can fight inequality and injustice. We can say no to power without consideration and cohesion.

Roskilde Festival as an event has a beginning and an end. But in the big festival community, we can create a movement together. A movement of solidarity that will not be stopped.
