The iconic rapper finally returns to the Orange Stage
Since his entrance on the music stage more than 10 years ago, Kendrick Lamar has set an extremely high standard for modern hip hop with complex pieces of work, reflecting the personal as well as the political.
Just like Bob Dylan back in the 60s used folk and rock music as a vehicle for channeling the cultural currents of his time, Lamar uses hip hop as an almost seismographic tool for the zeitgeist while at the same time embracing a dazzling vision of Afro American music with nods to jazz, funk and Afrofuturism. Albums like "To Pimp a Butterfly" and “DAMN.” stand as musical milestones, and with his recent album, the deeply personal "Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers", Lamar once again reinvents himself.
His recent arena tour demonstrated that he is also in a league of his own as a live artist and the tour brought him massive critical praise for his ambitious concert experience merging stunning visuals, choreography and a vital setlist spanning his entire career.
He was supposed to perform at Roskilde in 2021, so it is with great joy that we can now finally welcome the iconic rapper back to the Orange Stage where he last stood in 2015.
