Kendrick Lamar is one of your most sought-after acts leading up to this year’s festival, and the influential rapper will return to the biggest music festival in Northern Europe following an eight-year hiatus. His most recent performance at Orange Stage in 2015 was a true show of force, and this year’s concert at our main stage is on track to become one of the highest highs of the summer.
In 2022, Kendrick Lamar released the soul-baring epic "Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers" which ties personal pain to generational trauma across 75 exhilarating minutes. In February, Kendrick Lamar won the 2023 GRAMMY Award for Best Rap Album with "Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers".
Caroline Polachek will play Roskilde Festival for the first time ever as she takes on the Arena stage on Saturday July 1.
International heavyweights
Roskilde Festival 2023 is already shaping up to be a hub for powerful performances from some of the most acclaimed international acts right now. The queen of afro pop, Angélique Kidjo, first played at our festival in 1994, and is a true inspiration to some of the most forward-thinking artists across the African continent, including Burna Boy, Mr Eazi and Yemi Aladi, who all featured on Kidjo’s most recent album, "Mother Nature".
Speaking of recent albums, US singer/songwriter Caroline Polachek released the bold, universally-acclaimed album "Desire, I Want to Turn into You" just a couple of weeks ago, and she will play Roskilde Festival for the first time this summer.
Weyes Blood returns to Roskilde Festival following her majestic 2019 show at our Pavilion stage. 2022 saw the release of the American singer/songwriter’s fifth solo album, "And in the Darkness, Hearts Aglow", and this summer she will surely set our hearts on fire once more.
Also, we’re thrilled to announce Indigo De Souza, who is putting up her first show in Denmark just months after the release of her highly-anticipated new album ‘All of This Will End’. American compatriots Special Interest and Nora Brown will also play their first Danish shows at our festival this summer.
Jules Fischer and Josefine Opsahl, two great artistic talents, join forces in an intense and sensual queer performance.
New additions to Roskilde Festival’s Art & Activism program include cellist and composer Josefine Opsahl and choreographer and visual artist Jules Fischer as well as the Danish composer outfit Resonating Rooms. They join a line-up that already features renowned American choreographer Marikiscrycrycry and American-based visual artist Lise Haller Baggesen.
