Step into a fascinating botanical cosmos of alternative modes of existence

Imagine new worlds and new ways of being on the screens at Orange Stage where artist Nicholas William Johnson has created a new mesmerizing arrangement from his lexicon of virtual environments.

Nicholas William Johnson maintains a continuous dedication to exploring plant forms and their capacity to serve as a metaphor for diverse states of consciousness and being. Tirelessly he collects our planet's flora and digitally models each plant form before arranging them in spinning arrays that immerse you in a hypnotic visionary landscape.

Flora and other non-human lifeforms reveal a distributed form of consciousness that can be repeated from any point of the organism. It is as if through continual death and rebirth the organism achieves immortality and hereby proposes the question about what we accept to be normal modes of existence and perception.

Perhaps there is something to learn about ourselves and our position in a multi-species world from these alternative modes of living.

Nicholas William Johnson received an MA from the Royal College of Art in London in 2014 and works with mixed media, ranging from oil painting to 3D animations. He lives and works in London.
