Danish critics have described Barselona as a generational voice, and although Rud Aslak and Rasmus Theodor, who make up the duo, are still in their early 20s, they have already released four albums in addition to several mixtapes and EPs, several of which are frequently cited as new classics.
With Væbnet Hjerte from 2023 as the latest album in the series, Barselona continues to impress, not only because of the towering level of quality, but also because of their willingness to take chances and expand their sound, bridging the gap between magnificent rock, stunning pop melodies and a thumping electronic pulse. All infused with strong and original Danish-language lyrics.
The fact that they have collaborated with both Peter Sommer and Artigeardit says a lot about the duo's range, and with the impressive catalog of songs they have built up in just a few years, Barselona also manages to create a magnificent concert experience where each song unfolds like a small universe.
There's room for big pop choruses, heartfelt ballads, communal singing, bass-heavy beats and electrifying rock in an intoxicating mix that will without doubt create magic at Roskilde.
