The trance-inducing and bluesy guitar music of the nomadic Tuareg people has taken a firm hold on music lovers around the world, thanks in part to pioneers like Tinariwen, who brought Tuareg music all the way to the Orange Stage in 2023.

However, a young generation of musicians are ready to carry the torch, and Kader Tarhanine is undoubtedly one of the leading new voices. The hugely talented guitarist and singer's music has spread to younger listeners across the Sahara and to the global Tuareg diaspora via social media.

Kader Tarhanine’s approach to the groovy guitar rock of Tuareg music, as seen on his album Ikewane, has been described as romantic and unfolds as love songs performed with youthful fervor. But Kader Tarhanine also uses music to address political conflicts in the region he hails from. He was born in Niger to parents from Mali and grew up in southern Algeria. His music is a powerful testament to a cultural richness that transcends national boundaries, and his excellent band includes musicians from both Algeria and Mali.

Similarly, he is an excellent ambassador of Tuareg music, bridging deep traditions with contemporary rock, and has collaborated with some of Mali's most notable musicians such as Fatoumata Diawara and Toumani Diabaté. Experience the future of Tuareg music when Kader Tarhanine brings his band to Roskilde!
