No one sounded quite like Medina when she broke through the sound barrier in the 00s with her infectious mix of golden pop choruses, melancholic melodies, clubby electropop vibes and heartfelt R&B.
With defining albums like Velkommen til Medina (2009) and For Altid (2011) and a string of huge hits, she quickly established herself as one of the leading stars of Danish pop, and her instantly recognizable voice has been a companion for many people through crushes, heartbreaks and euphoric encounters on the dance floor.
In recent years, it has become clear that Medina is not only a pop icon for her own generation, but that a new generation of hitmakers are finding inspiration in her ability to combine raw sincerity, melancholic ballads, and hard-pumping dance bangers. Acts like D1MA and Kind Mod Kind have released hits with her, and rising star Pil, who will also perform at this year’s festival, has cited Medina as a key inspiration.
Without doubt Medina's music is experiencing a renaissance these years, and with new singles like "Danser For Mig Selv" she has shown that she can still pull off the classic pop magic. She has previously performed at Roskilde Festival as a guest of house star Deadmau5 among others, but in 2024, where she will close down the Arena stage, she will be performing at the festival for the first time under her own name. This show is bound to be a huge pop celebration of old hits and new songs.
