First Hate 16X9

Experience First Hate at Betty Nansen

21.03.2024Year-round

On 27 April, the First Hate will take over the set of Pride and Prejudice for the unique concept Iscenesat at Betty Nansen.

Saturday 27 April offers a one-of-a-kind concert with First Hate, promising an evening filled with love. The popular Danish synthpop duo will grace the stage at Betty Nansen Theatre in the unique concert format Iscenesat, unfolding amidst a theatrical set.

What is Iscenesat?

Iscenesat (Staged in Danish) is a concept created through collaboration between Roskilde Festival and Betty Nansen. The result is a unique concert experience, far different from what you'd find at typical venues, where music and theatre merge in a new, unpredictable encounter. Bisse, Iris Gold, When Saints Go Machine, and Konvent have previously performed at Staged.

This night, romance, heartache, and hedonism come together in perfect harmony as First Hate takes on the enamoured set from Pride and Prejudice with their pure pop beats, contemplative synth-romance, and club-like atmospheres. The experimental format is directed by Betty Nansen Theatre's director, Elisa Kragerup.

First Hate, comprised of friends Anton Falck and Joakim Wei Bernild, released their debut album, A Prayer for the Unemployed, in 2017, earning comparisons to New Order and Pet Shop Boys from influential media outlet Pitchfork. Their latest album, Cotton Candy, released in 2022 after a five-year hiatus, quickly reignited hearts and dance floors. In 2023, love was in the air as First Hate hit the mark with a fantastic and critically acclaimed performance at Roskilde Festival.

Spice up your evening with even more love

As something completely new, we are expanding the Iscenesat format with a pre-event in the foyer and balcony stage of Betty Nansen Theatre. The pre-event is called Love Con, where you can be seduced by a love fair featuring, among other things, a sex-positive confessional booth, interactive games, and food trucks.

At Love Con, you'll also have the opportunity to listen to two discussions on the theatre's balcony stage with a specially curated love panel consisting of podcast host Ingrid Baraka (A Seat At The Table), director Emil Rostrup, and actress Freja Klint Sandberg. The discussions will be moderated by Politiken's very own Dr. Love and advice columnist, Felix Thorsen Katzenelson.

You'll also have the chance to meet the organization Sexualia and Roskilde Festival's Orange Together, who will try to challenge your perception of love, flirtation, and sexuality.

Throughout the evening, we'll be asking the questions: Who decides who you can love? What is it like to love outside the norm? And how do you distinguish between different types of love?
